Guiding Principles:

Teaching and learning approaches that are actively promoted include team planning to support the provision of explicit instruction in Literacy and Numeracy within the framework of an Integrated Curriculum. The Integrated Curriculum model recognises that learning is more appropriate to children when learning areas are connected and place emphasis on child input to planning, co-operative group work strategies, and the development of thinking skills, personal qualities and research skills.

Organisation:

The school is organised into Professional Learning Teams: Prep, Junior School (1/2), Middle School (3/4), Senior School (5/6). Importance is placed on providing calm, caring learning environments that promote children’s self esteem and confidence.
Consultative processes are reflected indecision making throughout the school.  The Student Representative Council (S.R.C.) provides a student forum and input into decision making.  Deer Park North co-operates closely with neighbouring network schools and kindergartens.  This assists in providing curriculum coherence and appropriate transition arrangements for all students.
